Custom-Crafted Dental Crowns to Repair Your Smile
If you have suffered dental damage, you will need customized restorative treatment and carefully fabricated dental restorations. At Pure Smile Dental, we offer crowns, inlays, and onlays made from advanced materials. Dr. Lo will examine your tooth to determine the appropriate type of dental crown, inlay, or onlay for your tooth’s specific condition.
What Are Dental Crowns?
Crowns are tooth-shaped caps that fully cover a damaged tooth. Before you can receive a crown, Dr. Lo will reshape the tooth to remove the damaged and weakened material and make room for the restoration. This process involves minimal discomfort and the application of local anesthesia. Then, we will take impressions, and send them to a trusted lab where skilled technicians will create a lifelike restoration. Our crowns are available in several materials, including gold and porcelain-fused-to-metal. However, we most frequently recommend all-porcelain and zirconia for a more lifelike result.
How a Crown Can Benefit You
A crown can significantly improve the look and function of your tooth. If you suffer from any of the following dental issues, a crown may be right for you:
- A weakened or worn tooth
- Widespread decay that is too extensive for a dental filling
- Recently received root canal therapy
- Dramatic cosmetic blemishes, such as intrinsic staining
An implant-supported dental crown can also be a great way to replace a missing tooth without the need for a bridge, which requires modification to your surrounding healthy teeth.
What Are Inlays and Onlays?
Inlays and onlays are sometimes called “partial crowns.” Like full crowns, these restorations will be custom-made to match your smile. However, because they are smaller, they do not involve as much alteration of your teeth. If you have a cracked tooth or a cavity that is too large for a filling, Dr. Lo may place one of these restorations on the flat surface of your molar. An onlay will cover the cusps and sides of your tooth, while an inlay will fit in between the cusps.
